Electronics and Telecom sector is an important area identified for Skill Training. Towards identifying and developing courses in the sector, ASAP conducted a workshop in association with Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Government of India, NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology), ESSCI (Electronic Sector Skill Council of India) and TSSCI (Telecom Sector Skill Council of India), on 22nd November, 2014 at Kochi. Development of a training plan based on skill gaps in the sector fully customized to industry for maximizing the employment opportunities of youth was the major objective of the workshop. e- Futura provided a vibrant platform for technical experts and Industrial entrepreneurs from the Electronics and Telecom sectors to discuss and develop new ideas and opportunities that will pave the way to change the future of the youth. The workshop, designed in 4 phases, was attended by notable dignitaries from the Central and State government including Dr. K.M. Abraham CFA IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Government of Kerala, Dr. Ajayakumar IAS, Joint Secretary, DeitY, Shri. Anantha Narayanan, distinguished Scientist and Director, NPOL, Shri.K P Pillai, Director, NIELIT, Shri. N.K.Mohapatra, CEO, ESSC and Shri.A. Gururaj, Ambassodor, TSSC. Representatives from DeitY, NIELIT, NPOL and other organisations graced the occasion along with the ASAP team. Dr. M T Reju IAS (CEO, ASAP)welcomed the guests and Shri. George Thomas, Team Leader ASAP delivered the vote of thanks for the function. This was followed by 2 sets of panel presentations from eminent personalities from different sectors and group discussions on the courses that can be suggested for the sectors.The brain storming discussions by the three thematic groups gave useful insights to the ASAP for going forward in the Electronics and Telecom Sector
