The vision of ASAP is to train 3.5 lakh students in 5 years and make them fit for employment. In order to achieve this target a large pool of ‘Skill Development Executives’ is desirable. Consequently, ASAP team conducted a mass recruitment drive across 190 arts and science colleges of Kerala to identify resourceful students. Pre campaigns were organized at colleges with the aid of NSS (National Service Scheme). Radio Jockeys were entrusted to carry on campaign programs in colleges. ASAP recruitment café was opened in colleges and students were given sufficient time to enroll. Among 60,000 candidates 5000 graduates and post graduates were selected to be prospective Skill Development Executives (SDEs). These students who later successfully completed the 21 day training process through the Training Partner Scheme and met the specified levels of competency were identified as prospective Skill Development Executives. This initiative was termed the ‘Thousand Splendid Stars’, wherein 1000 resourceful students were shortlisted to become SDEs after training and online proficiency test and interview.
