Bulk Milk Cooler (BMC) Operator
India is the world’s largest milk producer and accounts for 20% of global milk production, with most of it consumed domestically. Milk chilling capacity of 1,705 TLPD and 1844 YLPD has been created during 2012-13 and 2013-14 in the co-operative dairy sector. Having made significant progress in milk production and processing, efforts are being made to provide hygienically safe milk and milk products to consumers. The usage of Bulk Milk Coolers (BMC) or Bulk Cooling Tanks is on the rise as it helps in increasing the shelf-life of milk, facilitates systematic milk procurement in large quantities and enables procurement of milk from untapped distant locations. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) promotes the purchase of BMCs through the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) of Government of India
The course shall equip successful trainees with the knowledge and skills required for operating the refrigeration/cooling equipment for procured milk for cooling and holding the milk at an optimum temperature until it can be collected by a milk hauler. Trainees shall be trained on preparing and maintain the work area and process machineries for BMC, operating the BMC, ensuring cleanliness and post-cleaning maintenance, undertaking documentation and record-keeping, and ensuring safety, hygiene and sanitation.

150 hours of internship in dairies
Assessment and Certification:
Continuous assessment is carried out by the Training Service Provider and final assessment by an independent assessor, assigned by the Sector Skill Council. Certificate will be issued by Government of Kerala and the Sector Skill Council, to successful trainees.
· Male students enrolled in Standard XI in any stream;/ Male students enrolled in 1st year of Bachelor’s Degree course in any stream;
· Male students who have successfully completed ‘Aptitude Test’ and ‘Personal Interview’
