Floriculturist (Protected Cultivation)
Government of India has identified floriculture as a sunrise industry and accorded it 100% export oriented status. The country has exported 22,947.23 MT of floriculture products worth Rs. 460.75 crores in 2014-15. The major countries of export are United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherland and United Arab Emirates. Indian floriculture industry has been shifting from traditional flowers to cut flowers for export purposes. The liberalized economy has given an impetus to Indian entrepreneurs for establishing export oriented floriculture units under controlled climatic conditions.
The course shall equip successful trainees with the knowledge and skills required for undertaking preparatory cultivation, cultivation and post- harvest management for closed cultivation of flowers. They shall be trained to prepare land and other inputs, select the right crop, transplant seedlings, apply manures and fertilizers, undertake pruning and irrigation, prevent and control plant pests and diseases, harvest the flowers and undertake post-harvest procedures for the cultivation of high-quality flowers in green houses and other closed spaces and also to design and maintain the greenhouses.

150 hours of internship with farms and nurseries
Assessment and Certification:
Continuous assessment is carried out by the Training Service Provider and final assessment by an independent assessor, assigned by the Sector Skill Council. Certificate will be issued by Government of Kerala and the Sector Skill Council, to successful trainees.

Students who have successfully completed ‘Aptitude Test’ and ‘Personal Interview’
