The Indian pharmaceuticals market is the 3rd largest in terms of volume and 13th largest in terms of value. Increase in health care spending and change in consumer attitude have significantly contributed to the rapid increase in number of retail chain pharmacies. There are approximately 8,00,000 pharmacies in India today with about 60,000 distributors; out of these, 20-30% is operated by organised retail companies and the rest by traditional/local pharmacists.
The course shall equip successful trainees with skills required to work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and perform many pharmacy-related functions; refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to pharmacists; review prescriptions or requests for refills that they receive from patients and nurses. Trainees shall be trained to receive prescription and assist pharmacists in verifying that information is complete, record and select the correct medicines for dispensing, establish or maintain patient profile, including lists of medications taken by individual patients, manage and maintain the drugs supply and order; maintain proper storage and security condition for drugs and maintain a safe, healthy, and secure working environment

150 hours of internship at pharmacies
Assessment and Certification:
Continuous assessment is carried out by the Training Service Provider and final assessment by an independent assessor, assigned by the Sector Skill Council. Certificate will be issued by Government of Kerala and the Sector Skill Council, to successful trainees.
· Students enrolled in Standard XI in science stream;/ Students enrolled in 1st year of Bachelor’s Degree course in science stream;
Students who have successfully completed ‘Aptitude Test’ and ‘Personal Interview’.
