Flood Relief Activities by Team ASAP

When the recent floods hits our state, ASAP was on the front lines in extending a helping hand to those affected. Our Programme Managers, SDEs and students alike were actively involved in different phases of flood relief operations from rescue to post flood relief management activities. The District Programme Managers of ASAP in tie up with the District administrations coordinated the rescue and relief operations day and night.

In Alappuzha ,a collection point was opened at GGHSS Alappuzha and a blog was created by the ASAP team to optimize the collection and distribution process of the relief materials. At Wayanad, the team provided the food kit for two weeks to those families who are displaced and lost their livelihood, supplied fire woods for cooking when people returned to their homes, and engaged in cleaning activities.  They adopted the camp at St. Josephs LP School Pallikkavu and supplied the needed materials and engaged in preparing food. Aid was given to the Asapians who lost their homes in the calamity. Team Kollam under the aegis of Health department, ensured the services of their GDA students in providing services at the camps and create awareness among the populace on disease prevention, epidemic control and so on with the support of SDEs. Trivandrum team visited various camps and was instrumental in coordinating the relief activities in the district. PMs, students and SDEs were actively engaged in camps at Karamana, Neyyattinkara, Amaravila, Padanilam and at collection centres throughout the district for volunteer activities. They partnered up with the Lorry owners association to keep a smooth transit of the goods collected at the collection points. Similar activities were organized in other districts also.

Various Departmental Heads and Honorable Ministers commended the efforts put forth by ASAP team across the state. Our team is still engaged in various Districts in the relief activities like making the houses habitable and equipping the student community to continue their studies and so on.
