Training Programme for Sector Programme Managers

A training programme for Sector Programme Managers was conducted on 29th November 2016 at ASAP Annex by India EU Skills Development Project .
The India-EU Skills Development project funded by the European Union assists the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), selected State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs) and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) in implementing policies aimed at skilling large numbers of Indian men and women to increase their employability and entrepreneurship, as a precondition of economic and social development.

Workshop on Skill Development

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), along with ASAP organized a National Workshop on “Skill Development” on 30th January ,2015 at The Lalit , New Delhi. The primary objective of the workshop was to develop an action plan for skill development initiatives . The workshop comprised of presentations on ASAP,briefing on NSDC and SSCs , expectations of ASAP from NSDC & SSCs and vice-versa .

On the occasion , Planning of Community Skills Parks with sector specialization , Alignment of Courseware to Qualification Packs , Trainer , Training of Trainer , Mechanism for Quality Assurance ,Assessment and Certification, Internships and assuring placements were discussed.

Mr.Shamit Chakravarthi, Senior Economist, ADB , Mr. Dilip Chenoy CEO & MD-NSDC , Dr.Reju MT , CEO -ASAP, Mr.Rajiv Mathur, Head Standard & QA ,NSDC ,Mr.Basab Banerjee ,Consultant ,ADB , CEOs of Sector Skill Councils, Training Service Providers , experts from Industry and ASAP team members attended the workshop.

ASAP inks MoU with NSDC and TSSC

Additional Skill Acquisition Programme, ASAP, has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for the introduction of skill-based courses for its students, on 9th December, 2014.The MoU has been signed to facilitate introduction of skill-based courses in higher secondary and undergraduate degree levels. The objective of the MoU is to expand the employment prospects of the students with efficient training, certificates of competency, and placement support.The agreement with NSDC, which is expected to integrate skill-based training was signed and exchanged between Shri. Prakash Sharma, Chief Financial Officer, NSDC and Dr. Reju M.T., CEO, ASAP, in the presence of Shri. P K Abdu Rabb, Hon. Minister for Education.

Another Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Telecom Sector Skill Council, TSSC, and ASAP, to develop Telecom technical and soft skills eco-system in the state. For TSSC, CEO, Lt. Gen. Dr. S.P.Kochhar , signed and exchanged the MoU with Dr. Reju M.T., CEO ,ASAP. The function was presided over by Shri. P K Abdu Rabb, Hon. Minister for Education.

All help for skill development initiatives in Kerala: Union Minister

Shri. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon. Union Minister of state for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) & Parliamentary Affairs,has assured that the Centre will cooperate with the state in carrying out skill development initiatives to empower the public.  Skilling our populace has become imperative, as other countries like Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom, have high percentage of skilled workforces, whereas in India the number is miniscule, he added. The skill development courses must be linked to the university so that our youth will be industry ready after completion of their course. Skill development initiatives in India are at a nascent stage and the current government is working out several strategies to pursue and achieve excellence in skill development, he said.

- New courses added to ASAP skill bouquet

Soon our students will be able to choose from a wide range of new courses from ASAP skill bouquet to meet their educational and professional needs. The new skill courses will open new doors for those who want to find the best way to polish up their skills in the domain of their interest. Skills are acquired, by students, through education and training and ASAP lays greater stress on its quality education and infrastructure in order to help students attain higher levels of growth. ASAP intends to enhance the skill development of Kerala’s youth at a rapid pace by bringing in new skill courses.
