Additional Skill Acquisition Programme



As part of ASAP Plumber’s Club  activities, refurbication work of toilets of government institutions was undertaken by students of ASAP PLUMBING Course. The first project undertaken was that of GHSS Kidangara, Alappuzha district. The students with help of Jilla Panchayath Education Standing Committee initiated the work of repairing the toilets in the school. Thanks to students of ASAP, the toilets are now usable. And the school authorities conveyed their relief and satisfaction



Qualification File submitted by ASAP has got NSDA's approval. ASAP had submitted Q file for two of our courses, Junior correspondent course and Communicative English Trainer. They have now been nationally accredited in the 18th National Skill Qualification Committee (NSQC) meeting conducted on 9th October 2017 at NSDA Office, New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Sri K P Krishnan, Secretary of NSDA.


Second session of 'The Platform' -Knowledge Sharing series

The second session of the Knowledge Sharing Series 'The Platform' was conducted at Mascot hotel on August 18th, 2017. Smt Gayathri Kalia, Former COO DDUGKY was the special invitee. She presented on the topic 'Taking Skilling to the next level'
Her vast experience in the field of Skill training and her dynamic career profile reflected through out her presentation. She emphasized in making skill learning aspirational. She opined that even though skilled labourers are in high demand, they are still paid less and pointed that this has to change. She said that Sector Skill Councils, CEO's of Govt organizations, Training service providers, and other stakeholders should come together to resolve the challenges presently faced in Skill training. Assessments and certification are still compromised and this needs to be addressed. Skill training should start at an early stage and should be part of the curriculum, she said. Government officials, Policy makers, Industry representatives, Training service providers etc participated in the programme. The session was enlightening as well as thought provoking and was well appreciated by the audience.

ASAP Industry Meet _ Alappuzha District

ASAP, organized an industry roundtable meeting at Collectorate conference hall, Alappuzha on August 29th 2017 at which was aimed at developing synergies between local industry and ASAP. The meeting was inaugurated by Smt Anupama IAS, District Collector Alappuzha and presidential address was delivered by Smt. Louly M V (General Manager, District Industries Centre, Alappuzha). In his brief presentation Dr.K.P. Jaikiran, Head Curriculum Design and Logistics Sector, ASAP outlined the salient aspects of ASAP skill training and also the need for strengthening industry connections. In his keynote address, Mr. PM Riyas, Head Strategy (ASAP) emphasized on the proactive role to be taken by industry in Skill training.  Leading industry representatives of the district attended the meeting. In the discussions that followed industry representatives spoke about their need for skilled manpower and also the limitations being faced by them in finding suitable candidates for the various job roles.


August 1, 2017, The foundation stone laying ceremony of Community Skill Park at Amaravila was held at LMS HSS Amravila. Hon MLA Shri K Ansalan laid the stone and delivered the inaugural speech. Shri CK Hareendran, Hon. MLA Parassala presided over the function. ASAP team members and important political personalities, students and institution fraternities were among the dignitaries present for the function.
