Second session of 'The Platform' -Knowledge Sharing series

The second session of the Knowledge Sharing Series 'The Platform' was conducted at Mascot hotel on August 18th, 2017. Smt Gayathri Kalia, Former COO DDUGKY was the special invitee. She presented on the topic 'Taking Skilling to the next level'
Her vast experience in the field of Skill training and her dynamic career profile reflected through out her presentation. She emphasized in making skill learning aspirational. She opined that even though skilled labourers are in high demand, they are still paid less and pointed that this has to change. She said that Sector Skill Councils, CEO's of Govt organizations, Training service providers, and other stakeholders should come together to resolve the challenges presently faced in Skill training. Assessments and certification are still compromised and this needs to be addressed. Skill training should start at an early stage and should be part of the curriculum, she said. Government officials, Policy makers, Industry representatives, Training service providers etc participated in the programme. The session was enlightening as well as thought provoking and was well appreciated by the audience.

A reward for commitment...

ASAP rewarded the best performing Training service providers for the year 2015-16 in the Partners Meet conducted on August 18th 2017 at Mascot hotel. The TSP awarded were Apparel Training and Design Center-ATDC and ICT Academy with special mention to Australian Retail College for the quality delivery of Skill training. The selection was based on the several criteria set and assessed by Sector Programme Managers and SDC Programme Managers. We congratulate the winners and wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.


Another Milestone for ASAP : B Tech Minor Programmes for Engineering Students

ASAP courses so far have been framed to aid the higher secondary and Arts and Science students in Government institutions. Efforts were always on to expand the boundaries and include more age groups and areas into the gamut of ASAP Training. APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) integration is one such opportunity that helps ASAP materialize hopes into reality. KTU has entrusted ASAP with a B.Tech Minor Programme course for Engineering students.This programme will give students opportunity to acquire an additional set of skills that will compliment their regular programme. Through this BTech, Graduates will get an opportunity to enter the job world.These courses will of NSQF Levels 4 to 6, following a credit based evaluation and reward system.

August 1, 2017, The foundation stone laying ceremony of Community Skill Park at Amaravila was held at LMS HSS Amravila. Hon MLA Shri K Ansalan laid the stone and delivered the inaugural speech. Shri CK Hareendran, Hon. MLA Parassala presided over the function. ASAP team members and important political personalities, students and institution fraternities were among the dignitaries present for the function.
