Additional Skill Acquisition Programme



Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), jointly with the district administration Kannur and District Industries center Kannur organized an industry roundtable conference on “Bridge Skill & Employability” at Collectorate conference hall, Kannur on October 23rd 2017. The programme was aimed to develop a synergy between the need of the various Industries in Kannur and skill training of ASAP in the district.

The meeting was inaugurated by Shri Mir Mohammed Ali IAS, District Collector, Kannur and Shri Abdul Majeed K T , General Manager, District Industries Centre, Kannur) presided over the function in presence of Dr. K.P. Jaikiran, Head Curriculum Design and Logistics Sector, ASAP, Mr.Rajan M G, Regional Senior Programme Manager, Business Development and Placement and Smt. Diana Thankachan, District Programme Manager ASAP Kannur.



ASAP organized an industry roundtable meeting at the Collectorate Conference Hall , Pathanamthitta on 19th October 2017, which was aimed at synergizing the local industries with ASAP. The meeting was inaugurated by Smt. Anu S Nair ADM. The Presidential address was delivered by General Manager, District Industries Centre, Pathanamthitta. In his welcome address Shri Vivekanandan Nair, Head Communication Division outlined the salient aspects of ASAP skill training and also the need for strengthening industry connections. In the keynote address, Dr KP Jaikiram, Head Curriculum and content development & Logistic sector,  (ASAP) emphasized on the proactive role to be taken by industry in Skill Training. Leading industry representatives of the district attended the meeting. In the discussions that followed, industry representatives spoke about their need for skilled manpower and also the limitations being faced by them in finding suitable candidates for the various job roles.




Skill Course Allotment 2017

Skill Course Allotment process for 2017 -18 Regular batch has been initiated. Students are allotted skill courses offered in the ASAP Skill development centers on the basis of a rank list generated, considering the Aptitude test score which was conducted earlier. World Skills Conference 2017- Abu Dhabhi

World Skills has been promoting skills in a unique way, through competitions on the national, regional, and international level. Skills competitions are one of the most effective ways to reach the audiences that are the most important to increase uptake of TVET, young people themselves, and their influencers.  It is indeed a proud moment for ASAP, for being a part of the team from India in the World Skills Conference 2017, held in Abu Dhabi from 14th October 2017 to 18th October 2017. Our team is represented by CEO Dr. Sriram Venkitaraman, Team leader & Additional Secretary Shri Rajendran Nair and Strategy Head Shri Riyas Mohammed.


District Review Meeting

Presided by Dr. Sriram Venkitaraman, the new CEO of ASAP, the District Review meeting is progressing at ASAP Headquarters on 26th & 27th September 2017. The meeting reviews the status of Skill and Foundation courses, accomplishments, concerns, and challenges at the field level of ASAP. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Rajendran Nair, Team leader and Additional Secretary in presence of all Division, Sector Heads and Programme Managers.
