All help for skill development initiatives in Kerala: Union Minister

Shri. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon. Union Minister of state for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) & Parliamentary Affairs, has assured that the Centre will cooperate with the state in carrying out skill development initiatives to empower the public.  Skilling our populace has become imperative, as other countries like Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom, have high percentage of skilled workforces, whereas in India the number is miniscule, he added. The skill development courses must be linked to the university so that our youth will be industry ready after completion of their course. Skill development initiatives in India are at a nascent stage and the current government is working out several strategies to pursue and achieve excellence in skill development, he said.

Dr. Reju, IAS, CEO, ASAP, presented ASAP, its functioning and the way forward to the Hon. Union Minister. Shri. B. Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Shri. Dilip Chenoy, Managing Director & CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the ASAP team were present during the occasion.
