Two day Capacity development workshop convened on 20th of November 2015, at Trans tower, Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram was intended to identify capable Training Service Providers. The event was organized jointly by ASAP, Kerala Academy for Skill Excellence (KASE) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The workshop saw active participation from Chief Executive officers (CEO) of Vocational Training Providers, Entrepreneurs in Skill Development ventures, training managers of PSUs and representatives of NGOs. Dr Reju M T IAS, CEO, ASAP in his introductory speech emphasized the need for a standardized framework for training and the importance of being aware about the standards to be followed by training Service Providers. The event was inaugurated by Shri. Tom Jose IAS, Principal Secretary, Labour Department, Government of Kerala.
The two day workshop included sessions that treated topics such as ‘Introduction to the NSDC’ handled by Shri Anand Kumar, Consultant, NSDC that dealt with Quality Frameworks, National Occupation Standards, Qualification Packs and other quality guidelines that a training partner should follow for ensuring quality training. The session on ‘Skilling as an Enterprising Endeavour’ discussed the business aspects of skilling and importance of maintaining a good rapport with the industry. The workshop invited the attention of TSPs towards the NSDC, NSQF and assessment criteria. The session by Shri Anil Prasad P, Head- Life Long Learning about the criteria to become a training partner of ASAP and that by Shri Harikrishnan Nair, Chief Operating Officer, KASE on Opportunities in Skill Training were also useful. Valedictory function was coordinated by Shri P M Riyas, Head Strategy, ASAP in which consolidation of the sessions took place
