ASAP envisages setting up of Community Skill Parks” (CSP) as a futuristic model for Skill Training across Kerala. These would be set up in each of the 140 Legislative Assembly Constituencies of Kerala and will function as hubs of skill training. To generate ideas for designing and developing CSPs, ASAP organized ‘SPARK’, a design workshop on 20th and 21st June, 2014 at Thiruvananthapuram. Training Service Providers, Managers, Planners, and Researchers from different skill domains actively participated in the discussions to identify and quantify the design requirements in their respective sectors and constitute a sector plan to address these needs. Through CSPs, skill training in Snap of Group Discussion and Inauguration ASAP Annual Report 2013 – 14 59 multiple arenas will be brought to a common platform, to accommodate evolving trends and to be responsive to the constantly changing employment market. For brainstorming discussions, the skill courses were divided into four broad categories viz. Precision, IT, Heavy Machineries and Activity Based. The day two of the programme, saw a “Furniture Expo”, at ASAP headquarters, where in all the leading players in modular furniture manufacturing for educational institution displayed their designs. A presentation on furniture and fixtures was held on the same day. Mr. K Das, Architect from Asian Development Bank was the rapporteur for the meeting.
