Hon'ble Kerala CM launches 'Connect Career to Campus’

Connect Career to Campus (CCC), a campaign to spread the idea ‘Right Job@Right Time’, was inaugurated by Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, at Girideepam Convention Centre in Trivandrum on August 2, 2022. The event hosted by the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM) and K-DISC in collaboration with ASAP Kerala was presided over by Dr R Bindu, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice. 

The campaign led by the Higher Education Department aims at creating awareness about industry 4.0 jobs, change in global job markets, the need for skilling, and guiding students in finding appropriate careers along with pursuing their academics. “The state government is taking steps to transform Kerala’s traditional economic structure and make advancements in science and technology to build a knowledge society,” the Hon’ble CM said while adding that the campaign shall connect academia and industry as a part of the project to provide employment to 20 lakh aspirants by 2026.

Dr Bindu launched the Internship Portal and Career Support Executive Programme, and formally announced the NCVET dual recognition received by ASAP Kerala. The Digital Workforce Management System (DWMS) Connect mobile application that aims to connect job aspirants from Kerala with job providers around the world was launched by Shri MV Govindan Master, Minister of Local Self Government. Shri V Shivankutty, Minister of Labour, Education and Skills, released a skill catalogue and launched skill programmes. Shri Kadakampally Surendran MLA felicitated the gathering. Dr KM Abraham, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and K-Disc Executive Vice-Chairperson; Ms Ishita Roy IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department; and Ms V Vigneshwari IAS, Director, Collegiate Education; were in attendance. 

To augment the skilling and placement arena in the state, Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged with leading firms like Monster.com, Confederation of Indian Industries(CII), LinkedIn, British Council, Tseek, Awign, World Malayali Council and Entegrity.

Dr Usha Titus, Chairperson and Managing Director, ASAP Kerala; Dr PV Unnikrishnan, Member-Secretary, K-Disc; and Mr Santhosh Kurup, CEO, ICT Academy Kerala, apprised principals of higher education institutions about the concerted effort taken by the state government to provide appropriate employment opportunities to the students of Kerala in accordance with global developments.
