Course Overview
Child Care Assistants work in a variety of settings, from private homes to full-service day-care centres. The primary responsibility of a child-care assistant is to provide support to mothers and families. Assistants work to ensure children under their charge are in a safe and comfortable environment and provided with personal care and attention.
UNICEF and other international agencies have been promoting the concept of caring for the first 1000 days, including nine months of pregnancy and the first two years of life. There’s been an increasing requirement for services in immediate postnatal care, early newborn care, breastfeeding support, developmental assessment, early stimulation, nutrition of infants, the safety of young children, early identification of developmental delays and care of infants with special needs. During the first six months of the aforementioned courses, participants would be provided theoretical and practical training in these areas.
The two fields where parents would be willing to make reasonable payments for support services at home would be for children with autism and children with specific learning disabilities. Hence, during the second six months (internship period), participants of both the courses will be provided hands-on training with specific modules.
This is an NSQF level-4 course.
