Course Overview
An Enrolled Agent (WCD sponsored) is a professional who is authorised to represent taxpayers before the IRS, the US federal agency that oversees the collection of taxes and enforcement of tax laws.
Sponsored by Women and Child Department (WCD), the course is specifically designed for women between the ages of 24 and 33 who are unemployed or on a career-break. This initiative has a clear objective— to empower women to take up high-demand job roles in this industry and open up new pathways in this domain, thereby uplifting women and contributing to the betterment of the women in the region.
As an EA, you may undertake the following services:
1. Prepare tax returns,
2. Represent clients before the IRS
3. Have unlimited representation rights
4. Appeal in favour of clients before the IRS and advice clients on taxation aspects related to their business transactions
Candidates undergoing the course will be provided with Professional Development Program (PDP) based on request for enhancing your soft skills competencies.
Selection process for Enrolled Agent - WCD sponsored batch
We offer a mandatory bridge course for all the applicants who are looking to join the Enrolled Agent (EA) course. Applicants will undergo an initial screening, consisting of an online test covering fundamental accounting and English language skills. Only 90 candidates will be selected to participate in the 15-hour bridge course, followed by a mock test. The bridge course and mock test will focus on the following topics – Basics of US taxation, accounting, critical thinking, numerical reasoning, and English language.
The initial screening test to get admission to the bridge course will assess the following areas:-
English (Reading Comprehension, Grammar & Vocabulary tests)
Accounting (Basic journal entries, Depreciation and Financial Statement Analysis)
Subsequently, 30 candidates will be shortlisted for the Enrolled Agent course through a written test and interview. These candidates will get sponsorship for the course fee as well as exam fee.
Steps to become an Enrolled Agent
Step 1: Obtain Personal Tax Identification Number (PTIN) for which a valid passport is mandatory
Step 2: Register for the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE)
Step 3: Achieve passing scores in all three parts of SEE
Step 4: Apply for enrollment
Step 5: Pass a suitability check

FAQs
A notarised colour copy of the passport is to be submitted with the application for PTIN. The following points should be noted with respect to notarisation-
a) The passport’s colour copy must be clear
b) The front and the back page copy must be on the same side of the colour copy
c) Notary seal, signature and stamp must be clear
The candidate can apply for the Special Enrolment Examination (SEE) only if he/she possesses a valid PTIN. The PTIN application process may be carried out while the batch is in progress. So, the candidate may not wait till PTIN is generated to attend his/ her classes.
Classes are offered both online and offline. Online sessions are scheduled for 3-4 days a week, typically in the evening, lasting 2-3 hours each day. Offline classes will take place as required at an ASAP centre, likely once a week.
Any employer working in the US Tax Industry or those required to comply with US Tax require an EA to perform their operations related to US Tax. Hence, after completion, you may be placed with an organisation that falls into the above-mentioned categories. To name a few, EY, KPMG, BDO, PwC, Deloitte, JP Morgan Chase, Grant Thornton, Accenture, Amazon, Bank of America, etc.
ASAP Kerala has collaborated with Entigrity Pvt Ltd to recruit 500 Enrolled Agent certified trainees on the successful completion of this course.
EA is a US Tax professional. He/ she may advise, represent, and prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations and trusts.
They are required in small and large public accounting firms, law firms, and corporate accounting departments, investment firms, banks and so on. An EA may also practice on his/her own behalf.

The international testing for SEE is conducted on the dates specified on the Prometric Website https://www.prometric.com/
The exam slots at Prometric are allotted on a first-come-first-served basis. So, it is imperative that candidates book their slots well in time.
The PTIN application can be started once the notarised passport copies of eligible candidates are ready. Detailed sessions on the application for PTIN will be provided to the candidates pursuing the course. PTIN application fee is $35.95, which must be paid while applying for PTIN. Also, PTIN should be renewed on an annual basis.
Ideally, candidates should plan the examination date during the course of the EA classes. For example, once Part 1/2/3 classes of the EA course have commenced, candidates should plan the exam date based on the slots available on the Prometric website for the corresponding part of the EA course.
