ASAP Kerala’s initiative ‘Industry on Campus’ was inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan on 4th April 2022 at Attingal Govt. Polytechnics via video conference. Inaugurating the event the Chief Minister said that students will be provided with paid internship opportunities to avoid job uncertainty after graduation. The CM added that Industry on Campus can play a major role in transforming Kerala into a knowledge economy. Higher Education Minister Dr. R Bindu presided over the function. The Minister said that the higher education sector will focus on skill training.
In addition to the existing facilities in polytechnics, state-of-the-art equipment such as CNC vertical milling machine, TIG-MIG welding station, CNC lathe, laser cutter and robotics lab will be installed and will be used for manufacturing activities in collaboration with industries. Through production and sales, students can earn income and complete internships along with their studies.
Students get job training along with their studies so that they can get better employment opportunities and start their own ventures. Students’ innovative ideas will be incorporated into the project, which is envisioned to transform campuses into mini-production centers, independent production centers and micro-production units in the coming years. The scheme is designed to provide students with 50% of the revenue from the Industry On Campus.
