The Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, a Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC) initiative, and ASAP Kerala, a public sector undertaking company of the Government of Kerala, are co-hosting Industry Roundtable 2022 as a networking event for industry leaders to brainstorm on key issues in talent acquisition and employability. The Roundtable, a series of dialogue, was inaugurated in Thiruvananthapuram on November 30, 2022.
Industry Roundtable 2022 was conceived to explore new job roles and skill sets that are relevant and in demand by industries through a series of dialogues proposed across skill domains. The discussion will centre on existing and emerging job roles, and identifying skill gaps, among other focus themes. Another expected outcome of the meeting is to estimate the expected job and internship opportunities in industries in general, and in each firm in particular. ASAP Kerala hopes to strategise and document the constructive recommendations made by the panelists to benefit job aspirants, employers, and the state.
Dr Usha Titus, Chairperson and Managing Director, ASAP Kerala, briefed the delegates about the significance of the meet. Industry experts from IT/ITeS (Data Science & AI), agriculture and food processing, healthcare and life sciences, electronics and hardware, tourism and hospitality, automotive and electric vehicle, construction and real estate, manufacture and capital goods, defense and aerospace, fintech and 5G technology sectors will mull over industries’ role in creating talent through a series of roundtable discussions planned over four weeks.
For each of the proposed Industry Roundtables, nearly 30 HR managers and representatives from industries, Sector Skill Councils, industry associations, and universities have been invited. Every Industry Roundtable will have an academic partner from one of Kerala’s universities. The first roundtable was on the IT/ITeS sector, and Mr Santhosh Kurup, Chief Executive Officer, ICT Academy of Kerala, moderated the panel discussion.
