The International Conclave on US Taxation Careers
On Saturday, the 17th of February, 2024, The International Conclave on US Taxation Careers was conducted by ASAP Kerala in association with the TKM Group of Institutions. Held in the TKM College from 11am to 5pm, the conclave aimed to bring insights into the opportunities in the field of US Taxation, especially for those interested in pursuing careers as an Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. S. Ayoob, Executive Director of the TKM Group of Institutions and the Presidential Address was delivered by Shri. M. Noushad, the Hon’ble MLA of Eravipuram. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Shri. K.N. Balagopal, the Hon’ble Finance Minister of Kerala and Dr. Usha Titus IAS, the Chairperson and Managing Director of ASAP Kerala, delivered the Keynote Address for the Event.
Following the insights provided by ASAP Kerala’s CMD, the Guest of Honour, the Executive VP of Surgent Ms. Elizabeth Kolar, shed light about the field in detail, drawing upon her extensive experience. Ms. Kolar passionately encouraged students in Kerala to consider these opportunities, stressing the potential for personal and professional growth in the realm of US Taxation. Janab T.K. Shahal Hassan Musaliar, the Chairman of TKM College Trust, also presided over the event and delivered the Special Address, after which Mr. Anoop Ambika, the CEO of Kerala Startup Mission, addressed the gathering about opportunities in Kerala. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Chitra Gopinath, the Principal of TKM College of Arts and Science, followed by the Members of the Panel Discussion addressing the audience.
The Members of the Panel Discussion included Mr. Ramesh Nair, the Director of KPMG Global Services; Mr. Vivek Pillai, Executive Director of EY GDS; Mr. Hari Prasad Krishna Pillai, VP and MD of H&R Block India; Ms. Anshu Jain, Director of H&R Block; Mr. Aneesh N., Director of GR8 Affinity and Mr. Maulik Doshi, the Deputy Managing Director of Nexdigm.
Other guests included Mr. Manoj Elanjickal, Head of People and Culture at H&R Block, Mr. Arun Nair, Associate Director at H&R Block, Mr. Jeswin Jose, Associate Director at KPMG. Several attendees had their questions answered by the Panel, as well as by Mr. Sean Mullen, the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at KnowFully Learning Group, during the interactive session, which was moderated by Ms. Andrea Abru, the Communications Specialist at ASAP Kerala.
In the afternoon Industry-Alumni Interaction session, Mr. Lijil Lakshman, CA, delivered a session on “Why Enrolled Agent Certification?”, after which the Principal of TKM College Dr. Chitra Gopinath delivered felicitations. The Keynote Address of the session was delivered by Dr. Usha Titus IAS, CMD of ASAP Kerala, which was followed by the interactive session that included the likes of Mr. Sean Mullen, Mr. Ramesh Nair, Mr. Hari Prasad Krishna Pillai, Mr. Aneesh N., and Mr. Maulik Doshi. This session was moderated by Mr. Lijil Lakshman. The event concluded with Shri. Saji T., Head Training at ASAP Kerala, expressing his gratitude towards all those involved in making the event a huge success through the Vote of Thanks.
