Thiruvananthapuram, 7th August 2024. Dr. Usha Titus IAS, CMD of ASAP-Kerala ( Additional Skill Acquisition Programme) and Mr. M A Wahab, Dist Governor, Lion Club International, this afternoon, inked an MoU in the presence of Dr. Bindu, the Honourable Minister for Education, Govt Of Kerala to skill 150 youth from financially backward sections of society.
Capability building to enhance employability is the defining standard in the skill courses being offered under this scheme of Lions Club International, Dist 318A across the districts of Trivandrum, Kollam, Alappuzha and Karthikapally Taluk.
60 youth will be trained in care-giving to the ailing, 90 will be trained in Capability building skills required to work in modern office environment and while Lions Clubs in this Zone will mobilise the beneficiaries ASAP Kerala will skill, assess and certify these beneficiaries. The Care-giving course for the ailing will also have a module in running reputed Hospitals.
Present on the occasion were Lions Club Project Co-ordinator Lion U Padma Kumar, Lion A K Shahnawaz, Lion C L Ravi Kumar , Commander Vinod Sankar, Head Funding, Shri Ismail Basheer, Associate Director, Reshma L S, Project Head from ASAP-Kerala.
This initiative is a step forwards, to effectively address the social challenge of unemployability despite education levels and high levels of literacy in Kerala. ASAP-Kerala has been quietly effecting a revolution through its skill courses that addresses all categories of skilling, across socio-economic structure and enhances their employability and income.
