On the 18th of February, 2024, Sunday, the ASAP Kerala Canara Bank Grandmasters Chess Tournament 2024 took place at the CSP Kazhakoottam from 9:30 AM onwards, with the aim of promoting chess among students as well as enthusiasts and providing a platform for skill development and healthy competition.
The event had three parts– Open Chess Tournament, District Level U-19 Open Tournament, and Girls Selection Tournament, which was graced by Dr. Usha Titus, the CMD of ASAP Kerala; Mr. Keshavamoorthy B V, Divisional Manager of Canara Bank; and Mr. Rajendran Achari, Secretary of the Trivandrum Chess Association. A total of 217 participants were in attendance.
Dr. Usha Titus, CMD of ASAP Kerala, emphasized that as chess is often termed as a game of intellect and strategy, it holds a special place in the world of skill development and education.
