Inauguration of Upasana Skill Development Center on 20 March, 2024

On 20th March, 2024, ASAP Kerala inaugurated the newly established Upasana Skill Development Centre at Upasana Hospital, Kollam. The Chairperson and Managing Director of ASAP Kerala, Dr. Usha Titus IAS (retd), presided over the event as the Chief Guest, along with Special Guest Mr. N.S. Ajith, the General Manager and Unit Head of IREL; Mr.K.S. Bhakthadarsan, Chief Manager Technical (Resources); Mr. Aji CSR officer of IREL Cdr. Vinod Sankar, the Head of Funding; and ASAP Kerala’s Programme Managers Shreejeet K., Anish Vijay S, and Ms. Janaki Venukumar.

The inauguration occurred following ASAP Kerala’s submission of a CSR proposal titled ‘Swasthya’ to Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) on July 23, 2024. ‘Swasthya’ aims to empower women by offering training in the General Duty Assistant (GDA) course to 40 women of socially and economically backward backgrounds, utilising CSR funds to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh. After the successful completion of the training, relevant placement opportunities shall be provided to the women. The proposal was approved by the IREL management and subsequently, the agreement was executed on 24th March 2024.

Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and skill enhancement in the dynamic field of healthcare, Upasana Hospitals is entering into the field of skill training by establishing the “Upasana Skill Development Centre (USDC)” with their ASAP Kerala affiliated course “Health Care Assistant (HCA)”. The beneficiaries were selected from the mining regions of IREL in Neendakara, Chavara, Panmana, and Alappadu villages of the Karunagappally Taluk after a media campaign. Selection procedures were jointly completed by officers of IREL, Upasana Hospital & ASAP Kerala.
