ASPIRE 2024: Empowering Job Seekers through Skill and Opportunity
ASPIRE 2024, a comprehensive placement drive was successfully held on September 6th, 2024, at the SCMS Muttom Campus in Kochi. Organized by the Skill Demand Aggregators Vertical of ASAP Kerala, this event was designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and potential employers, offering a unique platform for fresh graduates, experienced professionals, and individuals returning to the workforce to explore career opportunities across diverse industries.
This year marked the third edition of the ASPIRE placement drive. The inaugural event took place at the Community Skill Park in Kazhakkoottam, followed by a second one at Christ College (Autonomous) in Irinjalakuda. ASPIRE 2024, continuing the legacy of its predecessors, drew even greater participation and interest.
The placement drive was officially inaugurated by Dr. R. Bindu, the Honourable Minister for Higher Education & Social Justice of Kerala, along with other esteemed dignitaries. Shri. Anwar Sadath, the Hon’ble MLA of the Aluva Constituency, presided over the event, which saw the attendance of prominent figures from various industries. Their presence underscored the significance of initiatives like ASPIRE in fostering employment and enhancing the skilling ecosystem in Kerala.
ASPIRE 2024 aimed to cater to a wide range of job seekers. Participants included final-year students from fields such as B.Tech/M.Tech, B.Com/M.Com, MCA, BBA/MBA, and B.Sc./M.Sc., alongside ITI and diploma holders, graduates, and individuals who had completed industry-specific training through ASAP Kerala. The event was carefully crafted to ensure equal opportunities for candidates from various educational and professional backgrounds, helping them connect with leading companies and explore potential career paths.
The response to ASPIRE 2024 was overwhelming, with a total of 1,488 registrations, including 169 spot registrations on the day of the event. Out of these, 838 candidates attended the event, eager to interact with the 50 participating companies. Notable organizations such as VOLVO, L&T, Hyosung, FANUC, and Hykon were among the employers, offering job opportunities across a wide range of sectors, including technology, engineering, finance, and manufacturing.
The placement drive proved to be highly productive. Over 300 candidates were shortlisted from the 838 attendees for further evaluation by the participating companies. As of the time of reporting, 52 candidates had successfully secured placements through ASPIRE 2024, with more expected as evaluations and interviews continue. Both students and employers expressed high levels of satisfaction with the event. Students praised the platform for providing them with valuable career opportunities, while employers lauded the professionalism and efficiency of the ASAP Kerala team in organizing such a large-scale placement drive.
ASPIRE 2024 stands as a testament to ASAP Kerala’s ongoing efforts to create a skilled workforce and provide employment opportunities for the youth of Kerala. The success of this event highlights the importance of such initiatives in shaping the future of the state’s job market and contributing to its knowledge-driven economy.
