WHAT DO WE OFFER?

Community colleges offer a three-year credit-based DVoc (Diploma in Vocation) programme (approved by AICTE). The programme is in alignment with NSQF, and there is flexibility for multiple entry and exit, with certification at the exit level by the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Government of Kerala. ASAP Kerala acts as the skill training partner for the programme. Polytechnic institutions serve as Community Colleges.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

2nd and 3rd year –

Odd semesters will cover theory and basic practical training at polytechnic colleges

  • Provide industry-led academic programmes
  • Enhance participation of institutional drop-outs, irrespective of their age
  • Strengthen institutional mechanism for skill development
  • Provide upskilling/ reskilling of traditional/ acquired industry skills
  • Provide entrepreneurial orientation, along with skill training for self-employment

WHAT ARE THE SALIENT FEATURES? 

  • AICTE-approved three-year D Voc (Diploma in Vocation) Programme
  • Six Qualification Packs (QPs) identified by polytechnic colleges transacted in three years
  • 40% of the education component will be offered by polytechnic colleges
  • 60% of the skill components will be offered by the industry
  • Students completing the DVoc programme can obtain lateral admission to BTech courses

 

HOW DO WE CERTIFY?

The final assessment will be conducted for two components – education and skill. The examination for the educational component will be governed by the institutional-level controller of examination and the skill component by the SSC/ Industry/ Vocational Training Partner. The institution-wise consolidated marks will be approved by SBTE to award DVoc.
