The NMC CBT test is a Computer-Based Test conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for overseas nurses and midwives who wish to practice in the UK.
Overseas nurses and midwives who want to work in the UK are required to take the NMC CBT test as part of their registration process.
The test assesses the candidate’s theoretical knowledge and understanding of nursing or midwifery practice to ensure they meet the necessary standards required to work in the UK.
The CBT exam has two parts. Part A covers numeracy and Part B covers clinical questions for nursing or midwifery. Part A is Numeracy with 15 questions and Part B is Clinical part with 100 questions.
The test covers a wide range of topics related to nursing or midwifery practice, including clinical skills, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, ethics, and legal aspects of healthcare.
ASAP Kerala is providing a preparatory course for NMC CBT with practicing past exam questions, online sessions by expert CNT trainers, utilizing online resources such as practice tests and revision materials.
The test duration varies depending on the modules being taken but typically lasts around four hours.
The test is administered at Pearson VUE test centers located worldwide. Please search for CBT exam in Pearson VUE website to know about nearest exam centre.

The cost of the test varies, and candidates should check the NMC website or contact Pearson VUE for current pricing information. The fee for sitting both parts of the CBT is £83 (Rs. 8700 approximately) at present.
Candidates who fail the test can usually retake it after a specified waiting period, which is typically around 28 days. However, candidates should refer to the NMC guidelines for the most accurate information.
There is no limit to the number of times you can retake the NMC CBT test. However, there may be additional fees associated with each attempt.
After passing the test, candidates can proceed with the next steps of the NMC registration process, which may include a practical OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) and completing other requirements for registration.
