Road Construction Engineer
Course Overview
The Road Construction Engineer course, developed by the National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC), an institution under the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE), is a premier R&D programme focused on multi-modal transportation systems, including road, rail, water, and air. This course equips trainees with the expertise to plan, design, and build roads that connect our world.
Students will explore the properties and applications of construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, and aggregates, providing a robust foundation in practical construction techniques. The curriculum includes hands-on knowledge of earthwork operations, pavement construction, drainage systems, and roadside development, preparing students for the realities of the field.
To ensure comprehensive practical experience, students work alongside Highway Engineers for six months, engaging in projects that represent various stages of the highway construction process. This real-world exposure is crucial in developing the skills necessary for a successful career in road construction engineering.
