Course Overview
This course is an intensive, 7-day scenario-based, hands-on precision flight training program designed to enhance pilot skills and prepare participants to operate Small category UAS across various conditions. Students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the necessary equipment, tools, and operational procedures to ensure their UAS training aligns effectively with the intended mission requirements for the Small category. The maximum gross weight for a UAS in the Small category ranges between 2 kg and 25 kg.

Drone pilots will gain a thorough understanding of the regulations and laws governing drone operations in their region. This includes knowledge of airspace restrictions, flight restrictions, and local laws related to flying drones.
Drone pilots will be trained in safety protocols, including pre-flight checks, maintenance procedures, emergency procedures, and risk assessment. Safety is a crucial aspect of drone operations to prevent accidents and mishaps.
Trainees will acquire hands-on experience in operating drones, including basic flight maneuvers, takeoffs, landings, hovering, and navigating various flight environments. Flight skills are essential for safe and controlled drone operations.
Drone pilots will learn about the components of the drone, their functions, and how to troubleshoot common technical issues that might arise during flight.
Pilots will understand how to use GPS and other navigation systems to plan and execute drone flights accurately. This includes understanding waypoints, routes, and maintaining proper control over the drone’s position.
For programs that cover aerial photography and videography, trainees will learn how to capture high-quality images and videos using drones. This involves framing, composition, camera settings, and postprocessing techniques.
Drone pilots will be trained to plan flights effectively, considering factors like weather conditions, airspace restrictions, flight duration, battery life, and the purpose of the flight.
If the program covers data collection using sensors such as thermal cameras or multispectral cameras, trainees might learn how to interpret the data collected for specific applications like agriculture, environmental monitoring, or infrastructure inspections.
