Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) Kerala and Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE INDIA) agreed to establish two Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Electric Vehicle (EV) at two Community Skill Parks (CSPs) of ASAP Kerala. The MoU was signed between Dr Usha Titus, Chairperson and Managing Director, ASAP Kerala and Mr Vinod Kumar Guptha, President, ISIE.
ASAP is now delivering relevant higher-order skills for productive livelihoods to all strata of society. The statistics in EV show that in 2021, 3.29 lakhs of electrical vehicles have been sold which is a 168 per cent increase over last year’s sales. So in this context EV is an area that requires skilled workers.
This unique type of CoE is a first in India as it facilitates educational and career partnerships in the field of hybrid and electric vehicles. ISIE India with the help of MG motors, Hero Electric and Olectra Green Tech etc. will offer courses such as Certified Diploma in Electric Vehicle Powertrain, Architecture & Energy Storage, Certified Diploma in Electric Vehicle Design simulation and component selection, Executive PG in Electric Vehicle Engineering, in the first phase.
ASAP Kerala will provide space for the lab and run various courses in the EV sector and ISIE will train the students. The SC department will provide the fund for establishing the CoEs.
ASAP is providing 3000 sq.ft space in the CSPs at Thavanoor and Kunnamthanam for setting up the CoEs. SC Development Department is providing Rs. 67,89,800 lakhs for the establishment of CoEs and training of SC students.
