Higher education minister felicitates ‘Team Pravega’
ASAP Kerala offered financial aid to the team from Kerala participating in the Indonesian car-design championship
Dr R Bindu, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice, felicitated students who’ll be participating in the Shell Eco Marathon to be held in Indonesia on October 11, 2022. A team of mechanical engineering students from Government Engineering College, Barton Hill (GECBH) – Team Pravega – qualified for the national event held at Pertamina Mandalika Street Circuit in Indonesia. Pravega is the only team from South India to achieve this feat.
The Shell Eco Marathon-International Energy Efficiency National Competition is a championship where STEM students from around the globe design and build super mileage cars.
The hon’ble minister handed over the financial assistance provided by ASAP Kerala to the students at an event held at GECBH, Thiruvananthapuram, on September 14. “It is imperative to develop an innovation ecosystem on campuses. Students should be able to translate theoretical knowledge into practical and sustainable results. This should bridge the gap between employment and education. The work of ASAP Kerala in the field of skill training, especially electric vehicle training, is commendable,” Dr Bindu said.
The vehicle designed by Team Pravega was unveiled by the minister in the presence of Shri VK Prashanth, MLA; Dr Usha Titus, Chairperson and Managing Director, ASAP Kerala; and Dr Bijulal D, Principal In-charge, GECBH.
